Action Sport Games recently released their  M40A5 Sniper Rifle - this is a beautiful addition to the licensed McMillan M40 family of rifles.  The biggest notable external difference over the m40a3 is the detachable airsoft magazine.  This magazine holds 15 rounds of high-quality 6mm airsoft ammunition and is also used to hold the green gas that powers the rifle.

The gun also features a fully licensed McMillan stock with an adjustable cheekrest.  This has a very comfortable feel and is a big step up over some of the other entry-level sniper rifles on the market.  The foregrip also has a beautiful textured finish, which makes it easier to grip and adds a custom look.  There is a Mil-Std 1913 Picatinny rail on top so that you can mount your choice's optic.

One of the best features of the gun is its adjustable velocity.  Simply remove the bolt and adjust a rotary wheel to move your velocity up or down.  There is also a set screw to lock the wheel in place. This prevents velocity fluctuations once you have it set to your liking.  Watch the review video above, and Jarrod will show you how to adjust the velocity.  This is a simple procedure that all players should be able to accomplish with a simple Allen wrench.

The gun is compatible with additional accessories such as the  M40 accessory rail by ASG. You can put this on to mount additional accessories on your rifle, such as a PEQ Box or Bipod.  There is a traditional bipod stud mount that can be used as well.  Spare 15-round magazines are also available for purchase separately.

Make sure to check  foxairsoft.com to find other accessories available for the rifle.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the M40A3 and the M40A5?

The M40A3 and M40A5 are both variants of the M40 sniper rifle used by the United States Marine Corps, but they have distinct differences. The M40A3 features improvements over the earlier M40A1, including a more robust stock, improved scope mounts, and a redesigned trigger guard. The M40A5, on the other hand, builds upon the M40A3 by incorporating a detachable magazine system for quicker reloading and a sound suppressor capability for reduced muzzle blast and noise. Additionally, the M40A5 often comes with an upgraded scope and bipod, enhancing its overall accuracy and versatility in various combat scenarios.

What kind of gas do airsoft snipers use?

Airsoft snipers typically use either green gas or CO2 to power their rifles. Green gas, which is a propane-based gas mixed with silicone oil, is commonly used because it is easy to handle and maintain. CO2, stored in small cartridges, provides higher pressure and more consistent performance in colder temperatures compared to green gas. Both types of gas offer distinct advantages, and the choice between them often depends on personal preference and the specific requirements of the airsoft sniper rifle being used.

What caliber is a M40 sniper rifle?

The M40 sniper rifle, including both the M40A3 and M40A5 variants, is chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO (.308 Winchester). This caliber is renowned for its accuracy, range, and stopping power, making it a preferred choice for military snipers. The 7.62x51mm NATO cartridge provides a good balance of performance and recoil management, allowing snipers to engage targets at extended ranges with precision.

What is the maximum range of the M40A5?

The maximum effective range of the M40A5 sniper rifle is typically around 1,000 yards (914 meters), depending on the shooter's skill, environmental conditions, and the quality of ammunition used. This range allows snipers to accurately engage targets at long distances, making the M40A5 a formidable tool for military and law enforcement sharpshooters. In airsoft, however, the range is significantly shorter, with effective ranges typically between 150 to 200 feet (45 to 60 meters), depending on the rifle's configuration and the type of BBs used.
