Why Safety Matters
Our field at Flat Acres Farm is built on community, teamwork, and good sportsmanship. These rules protect players, staff, and the field itself so we can all keep enjoying airsoft for years to come.
The 12 Core Field Rules
- Listen to all staff instructions. Refs run games, assign teams, and keep you safe—follow their direction.
- Full-seal, impact-rated eye pro only. Goggles must be full-seal with a retention strap and stamped Z87+.
- Under 18 must wear a hard lower face mask. As we say: mesh is cheap—teeth are not.
- Follow chrono limits & engagement distances. See the class table below and stay within your class.
- No blind firing. If you can’t see where your BBs are going, don’t shoot. Fist-sized opening minimum when shooting through holes.
- Staging area safety. Magazine out, safety on, barrel bag on. Pistols holstered with mag out. Two-strike system enforced.
- White biodegradable BBs only. Any brand is fine—keep the field clean.
- Attend the full game briefing. Take breaks between games to keep teams balanced and informed.
- Respect the property. Farmer Mike generously shares this land—pick up your trash and treat it with care.
- Don’t climb or alter barricades. No moving, stacking, or surfing field elements.
- No physical contact or profanity. Zero-tolerance. Violations = going home for the day.
- Call your own hits & play honorably. Airsoft runs on trust; get a ref if there’s an issue.
| Class | Joule Limit | Engagement Distance | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rifleman | ≤ 1.5 J | Semi within 10 ft | Full auto allowed outdoors on Prison field; not inside buildings. |
| DMR | 1.5 – 2.0 J | 75 ft MED | Stay semi-auto per class rules. |
| Sniper | 2.0 – 3.0 J | 100 ft MED | Single-shot platforms. |
HPA: Chrono at 0.2 J lower to mitigate potential joule creep on certain regulators.
Field-Wide Callouts
- Real World — Medical emergency. Stop shooting, mag out, muzzle down. Point to the incident location; don’t crowd.
- Blind Man — Eye pro issue. Stop immediately. If you’re the blind man: cover eyes, get low, do not move. Staff will come to you.
- Wildlife — Animal on the field (dog, deer, snake, barn cat, etc.). Pause and await staff direction. Don’t shoot animals (even the rabbits!).
- Goggles On — Past the gate/range line, eye protection stays on at all times (even if foggy or itchy).
- Endex — End of exercise. Follow ref instructions for reset or side swap.
Extras & Player Etiquette
-
Grenades: Only spring or gas BB-dispensing grenades. No pyro/bang.
- Outdoors: Must be hit by a BB to be out.
- Indoors: Room-based clear (cell/tower). Long hallway: 10 ft or if struck by a BB—use best judgment.
- Friendly fire: Counts. If you tag a teammate, you may help them “tape the hit.”
- Ricochets: Don’t count—when in doubt, call it out.
- Gun hits: Don’t count—shout “Gun hit!” so shooters know you’re still live.
- Dead men don’t talk: Silent walk to respawn. No calling enemy positions or objectives.
- Spawn flags: You must physically touch your spawn flag to respawn.
- Bang-bang rule: Optional. You can call it; another player doesn’t have to honor it. Our chrono limits keep close shots safe.
