Do I really need a gun bag?
Gun bags serve two distinct purposes for us airsofters. The first is the obvious: airsoft gun storage. The second: (discrete) transport. This is not merely optional but sometimes a necessity depending on where you go. Many new players use their original electric airsoft gun boxes for transport and that's fine, but those boxes will fall apart eventually and do not hold what you need it to. We recommend that you look into getting one sooner rather than later, though we certainly understand if the gun box is working for you. Let's discuss their two functions:
Gun Storage
If you want to preserve the condition of your airsoft gun and keep it from getting it all banged up, particularly the more sensitive accessories like scopes and red dots you need to keep it stowed away in a gun bag. If you are running around on an airsoft field your gun is going to get scratched up and dirty anyway but the big thing is if you have accessories like scopes. Scopes may have exposed knobs and adjustments that could get bumped by simply having it out. You would lose your zero and when it comes time to use your airsoft gun you will no longer be accurate or have to reset your zero on your scope once more. This is time consuming and a hassle.
Discrete Transport
Taking your airsoft gun to the field is also something you have to carefully consider. Airsoft guns take on the appearance of real guns and are scary to the public. Naturally these create the same consequences of brandishing a real firearm in public, whether or not you have an orange tip. For us to continue the sport we have to be responsible and think about these consequences and take great care to be good ambassadors of the game to the general public. That means transporting our airsoft guns in a discreet manner for both public and personal safety. A lot of airsoft shops or fields may require you have a bag before you even enter the site. No matter how harmless you might think an airsoft gun is compared to a real gun, you should nonetheless treat them like a real firearm and respect the authority of those around you.
Gun bags will typically be made of nylon and have zippers and pockets to store other items like spare magazines or other mission essentials. We offer some affordable basic options as well as some premium ones.
Gun Cases and packs
Gun cases are storage containers made specifically to hold guns. They can come in the size of a rifle all the way down to a pistol. The hard shell types will be made of durable polymer and usually can be locked for safe storage. Inside will have foam padding to keep your contents secure and not allow them to move around or get scratched or bumped.
Soft gun cases are just smaller versions of the rifle bags mentioned earlier. They will zip up and have pockets to hold spare magazines.
Q & A:
Q: Is it necessary to have a gun bag?
A: Yes! A gun bag is a great way to carry around your equipment, it also is required at most fields. Since airsoft rifles look so realistic, you don't want to be carrying them around exposed in public areas. Many stores and fields will not offer service unless your rifle is in a bag.
