What are airsoft helmets?
Airsoft helmets are not rated so please use them strictly for fun in airsoft only. A lot of parents and first time players might ask: do you need a helmet? While it is not required, it is beneficial in many ways. Again this is an optional piece of gear, no airsoft fields require this to be used. It is the eye protection at a minimum however many places might require full face coverage as well. Who should get a helmet then? Helmets do take the sting out of being shot in the head. When BBs are flying in every direction you will surely get hit by surprise at least once every outing if you're out in the front lines. Young players can benefit from them if the helmet fits properly. You'll mostly see more seasoned players using helmets to complete their loadout and look cool or to mount their GoPro type cameras or even night vision.
What other cool things can you do to make your helmet more unique? Some people who just don't care or like a little bit of flair will do things to make their helmet more flashy and eye catching. Now this might not make sense in a tactical way, after all you do NOT want to stand out when sneaking around on the field. But airsoft is for all types of players, casual to serious, and a lot of video gamers like to add that bit of flair because why not.
You can paint your helmet or add cool aftermarket covers to break up the pattern a bit more and give you an edge in concealment. Painting and adding bits of shrubbery to your helmet are simple things you can do and has been a technique applied in real war for ages. For spray paint you would want to use something that is matte or low gloss and use some sort of plants to create a pattern. Observe the colors you would see out at your airsoft field and try to match that as best as you can. It's simple and effective and doesn't have to look pretty to work.
Typically people add morale patches too, if not just to add style points or a touch of humor. A lot of crafty airsofters have come out with solutions for mounting cameras and night vision and so on with the more modular helmets. Though we do not sell them all, we encourage you to do some research if you want to add those items to your helmet.
