VFC Avalon Saber Series Rifles

VFC is one of the most well-known companies for making high quality airsoft guns. The newest addition to their M4 series rifles is no exception to their legacy and features the best internally and externally. Let's look at the two rifles we've got here today, the Avalon Saber Carbine and Avalon Saber CQB!

The VFC Avalon Saber series rifles come in two lengths: the Carbine 15" and the CQB 10". Rifles feature the same internals except for the barrel, handguard lengths, and flash hiders. The Carbine's overall length is 31.75" with a fully collapsed stock, and the CQB also comes in at 26.25".

The flash hiders are made of CNC aluminum instead of the polymer or plastic ones you typically find on most airsoft guns. The Carbine flash hider on the left features a lightweight and minimalistic design complementary to the M-Lok rails. The CQB flash hider acts more of a noise amplifier, with a cone shape that perfectly meets the end of the 6.03mm tight bore barrel.

You will find the CNC Machine Aluminum M-Lok handguard behind the flash hiders, which looks amazing on this rifle. Traditionally, most rifles use a quad picatinny rail system, which can be rather uncomfortable to hold by the rails, and true CNC aluminum rails add quite a bit of weight to the rifle. An M-Lok system is much lighter and more modular, allowing you to mount a picatinny rail section to mount an accessory or the growing number of accessories that mount directly to M-Lok. This makes the VFC Avalon Saber CQB a standout choice for those seeking versatility and performance.

Closest to the upper receiver, the rear of the handguard also features a QD Sling Point Mount. While Single Point slings are gaining popularity, there are several advantages to running a two-point sling system. The mounts are on both sides of the rifle, which is convenient for left- and right-handed shooters.

Moving to the top of the rifle, we have our iron sights. Made out of a high-quality, durable polymer material, these sights feature a rapid-deploy button on the left side that can collapse the sights. These sights are low-profile and can be used in addition to a red dot sight when fully collapsed.

Moving along to the right side of the rifle, we have our dust cover and mock bolt ejection port. These rifles feature a functional bolt catch, which means racking back the charging handle far enough to lock the bolt carrier, making adjusting the newer dial-style hop-up unit much easier. On the Saber series, three small ports can be seen on the bolt carrier, which lets you see the red cylinder of the new VFC ECS Gearbox!

Additionally, on the right side of the rifle, you will find the ambidextrous fire selector, which is very useful for all of our left-handed or ambidextrous players out there. The rifle has the standard 3 positions, SAFE-SEMI-AUTO.

Yes, you see that right. Each VFC Saber Series Rifle features an EF Blade Trigger for faster and more controlled trigger pulls. Also, it looks like a lightning bolt. So it's awesome.

A comfortable QRS trigger finger rest is attached to the trigger guard right before the trigger. The groves and the rest curve are natural with the finger; keep your finger in the same place and help you practice proper firearm control.

The pistol grip is a QRS Stippled Pistol Grip, which is very comfortable and fits most sizes of hands, unlike some rifles that have a molded middle finger grove that may not fit all hands or that just doesn't feel comfortable. The stippling on these grips helps with gloves that do not have enough grip.

Out of the box, the VFC Avalons come with a QRS Mid Capacity Magazine, capable of holding 100 rounds. These magazines slip perfectly into the magazine and don't wobble side to side like some. Don't worry. The rifle still takes your standard M4 magazines as well.

Additionally, VFC has included an ambidextrous sling mount plate. Made out of CNC Aluminum, this sling mount plate is very sturdy and rugged and is ready for any challenge you throw at it.

On the rear, the VFC Sabers feature the QRS Modular Stock systems, which are awesome. They are easily adjusted by pulling back on the handle in the stock opening (which is a bit less awkward than the standard tab and a bit more robust. We can't tell you how many times we've found those standard tabs lying around on our airsoft field). The rifles are rear-wired to the stock and can support butterfly batteries and stick Li-Po's.

Opening the rear of the stock is done by lightly pressing the two tabs together on the rifle's rear and lifting. You can remove the two side tube caps to drop in a butterfly battery or even two stick Li-POs on each side. Additionally, these tubes can be removed altogether for a slimmer profile. On the bottom of the stock is a small picatinny rail section, which can be used for a monopod or other accessories.

And it's time for the internals! The Saber series sports the new VFC ECS gearboxes, which are superb out of the box and are very high quality. These rifles also feature a MOSFET, allowing you to run higher voltage batteries such as Li-Po's without worrying about your trigger contacts, giving you the best performance for trigger response and rate of fire.

Inside the ECS Gearbox is a quick-change spring system, and under the hood, we find a new Super High Torque Motor for those who would like to run higher springs. The barrels are 6.03 Tight Bore Barrels, giving you the best in accuracy and velocity out of the box. Speaking of velocity, the CQB shoots rather consistently at 380 FPS with a 0.2g BB, and comparatively, the Carbine at a consistent 390 FPS. Overall, these guns feel and shoot like a dream, and we are more than excited to carry these beautiful rifles!

What airsoft fps is safe?

In airsoft, a safe FPS (feet per second) varies depending on the type of gameplay and the environment. For indoor CQB (Close Quarters Battle) games, an FPS of 300-350 with 0.20g BBs is generally considered safe and appropriate. For outdoor fields, the FPS limit is typically higher, ranging from 350-400 FPS for assault rifles. Sniper rifles can have even higher FPS limits, often up to 500 FPS, but they are subject to minimum engagement distances to ensure safety. It is essential to adhere to the specific FPS limits set by the field or event organizers to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all players. Always wear proper eye protection and follow safety guidelines to prevent injuries.
