About the Condor Recon Chest Rig

The Condor Recon Chest Rig is a wonderful piece of gear for those who need to carry a lot of things but do not want to be using a full plate carrier. The difference between a plate carrier and chest rig is that a plate carrier is bulkier and designed to carry armored plates. They don't breath as well since they cover more of your torso compared to a chest rig. The chest rig on the other hand is a simple harness setup and brings with you what you need for the fight. In airsoft there is no real need for ballistic plates (or so we hope) but many people run plate carriers anyway for looks. People who are into the milsim life tend to want to look like a cool guy operator doing direct action hence the popularity of plate carriers. The chest rig is more for the minimalist type of person. Scout type players can also enjoy a chest rig for its diminutive size, especially if you see yourself as the type of player to crawl around and play sneaky.

Chest rigs can be all MOLLE or a combination of MOLLE and some integrated pouches. The Condor Recon Chest Rig is the latter. It comes equipped with integrated stacker pouches not different from the standalone pouches offered. They can hold a total of six M4 style magazines and six pistol magazines. The remainder of the chest rig is covered in MOLLE webbing so that you can add whatever else you feel you may need. That makes this chest rig very economical for newbies too since you do not have to spend for pouches off the bat. Other chest rigs also rely on simple shoulder straps that you cross and throw over your head to wear. The Condor Recon has quick release buckles so it can be worn or removed quickly. This is a nice convenience feature which they call the Swivi-Lockster. An additional mesh storage pocket can be found inside the rig itself where you can keep personal effects or important items like maps that you may want to quickly access and peak at. This chest right is adjustable by a large degree and be worn by players with a 30 inch to 60 inch wait.

We recommend a chest rig for new starting players due to the lower cost and having enough gear on you for exactly what you need for the game. Plate carriers are definitely more customizable and modular but that is added cost up front which might be tough for those starting out. This is a good start for getting geared up and not losing equipment on the field, not to mention something that can enhance your gameplay experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can you wear a backpack with a chest rig?

A: Yes, you can wear a backpack with a chest rig. Many chest rigs are designed to be compatible with backpacks, allowing for both to be worn simultaneously. The chest rig typically sits higher on the torso, while the backpack rests on the back. Ensure the backpack's straps and the chest rig's harness are adjusted properly to avoid interference and maintain comfort.

Q: What should be on a chest rig?

A: A chest rig should be equipped with essential gear based on the user's needs and mission requirements. Common items include magazine pouches, admin pouches, medical kits, utility pouches, and hydration carriers. The specific configuration will depend on the type of operation and personal preferences.

Q: Can you wash a chest rig?

A: Yes, you can wash a chest rig, but it's important to follow the manufacturer's care instructions. Typically, chest rigs can be hand-washed in cold water with mild detergent. Avoid using harsh chemicals or putting them in a washing machine, as this can damage the fabric and attachments. Allow the rig to air dry completely before storing or using it again.

Q: Why do you wear a chest strap on a backpack?

A: A chest strap on a backpack helps distribute the load more evenly across the body, reducing strain on the shoulders and back. It helps stabilize the backpack and prevent it from shifting during movement, improving overall comfort and balance. The chest strap also keeps the shoulder straps from sliding off and helps in maintaining better posture.

Q: Can you wear a plate carrier with a backpack?

A: Yes, you can wear a plate carrier with a backpack. Many plate carriers are designed with features that allow them to be worn in conjunction with a backpack. Proper adjustment and positioning of both the plate carrier and the backpack are important to ensure comfort and functionality. The plate carrier typically sits on the torso, while the backpack sits on the back, with careful adjustment to avoid interference between the two.

"Tips for new players: buy tickets ahead of time online, use white bio bbs, and use real eye protection not ballistic sunglasses. The field is well managed and has a positive culture! hard to find a field as good as Fox Airsoft, I'm gonna start going there every week."
