NcStar brought a lot to the table at Shot Show this year, and we're excited to start carrying their new and exciting items. One of their recent innovations is the Keymod Flashlight Mount from VISM, the VMFLKM.

The mount uses standard mil-spec Keymod slots to mount any 1" flashlight to the handguard, which is an excellent solution for those who want to mount a removable flashlight to their keymod setup. Originally, mounting a removable flashlight to a keymod system would have meant purchasing a keymod picatinny rail section and a flashlight mount to that rail. This can easily cost up to $40 and takes away from the lightweight and slim look of a keymod system.

The VISM Keymod Flashlight Mount aims to reduce the cost of adding a flashlight to a keymod rail and free up valuable space. The flashlight can be mounted at the end of the handguard to become flush with the flash hider, which gives you more room for other accessories or a more ergonomic grip on the handguard.

Mounting the flashlight to the unit can be done with ease. Four hex screws tighten and hold down the ring mounts to the unit, which does not need to be removed entirely, as shown above for most 1" flashlights. For some flashlights, the tail cap or the head must be removed to attach the flashlight to the mount. When fully tightened, the ring holds onto the flashlight securely, with no wiggle room.

Mounting the unit to the keymod rail is relatively simple. Two hex keys on the top side of the unit can be tightened and loosened for quick mounting and dismounting of the unit. When fully tightened and properly installed, the unit will be securely placed.

Overall, the NcStar VMFLKM is an excellent solution for those who want to mount a 1" flashlight or laser to their rifle. Low profile, easy mounting and dismounting, and ergonomic design were all the key points that were made when making this mount, making it the right choice for your keymod setup.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the brightest flashlight for a gun?

The brightest flashlight for a gun currently available is the Olight Odin, which can reach up to 2,000 lumens. This tactical flashlight is designed for weapon mounting and offers a combination of high output and long-range beam distance. Its robust construction, multiple mounting options, and powerful performance make it an excellent choice for tactical applications, providing exceptional visibility in low-light conditions.

Why are military flashlights angled?

Military flashlights are often angled to provide versatility and ease of use in various situations. The angled design allows the flashlight to be clipped onto gear, helmets, or webbing, leaving the user's hands free for other tasks. This configuration also makes it easier to direct light where it's needed without adjusting the user's grip or posture. Angled flashlights are particularly useful for tasks such as map reading, equipment checks, and navigating in low-light conditions.

Why are tactical flashlights so expensive?

Tactical flashlights are more expensive due to the high-quality materials and advanced technology used in their construction. These flashlights are designed to withstand extreme conditions, including impacts, water immersion, and high temperatures. They often feature high-output LED bulbs, rechargeable batteries, and precision optics to provide reliable, powerful illumination. Additionally, the engineering required to ensure durability, performance, and compatibility with various mounting systems contributes to the higher cost of tactical flashlights. Investing in a high-quality tactical flashlight ensures long-lasting performance and dependability in critical situations.
