What to bring to an airsoft game?

What to bring to an airsoft game?

When I went to my first airsoft game, I didn’t know exactly what I was getting into or what I should have brought to my first game. I had a pretty good idea of the basics.

However, I was so focused on the essential equipment that I didn’t think of these things that would have improved my experience.

Here are a few items that you should definitely pack for your first game:

1. Extra water/ snacks

You can never have too much water with you. I’d suggest bringing a gallon jug and a water bottle you can carry. A great alternative that is much easier to work with would be a hydration pack. These allow you to keep the extra water weight on your rig and have a convenient hose to drink.

You’ll also want some snacks. I like to carry food that doesn’t need to be refrigerated, such as protein bars and beef jerky.

2. Gloves

Oftentimes, people forget to bring gloves. Not only are they nice in the winter months when it’s cold, they are also good to have in the summer.

Getting shot in the knuckle doesn’t feel great (especially at close range), so I’d suggest these Condor gloves to protect your hands.

3. Extra battery

Bringing an extra battery with you is a good idea, even more so if there is not access to power where you are playing to charge your battery. You don’t want to risk ruining your trip with a dead battery and no backup options.

I run with several extra batteries these days just in case of an issue.

4. Chair

It’s worth having a chair when you return to the staging area. Some fields have a few chairs provided, but it's nice to set up your own under some shade.

Microfiber cloth/Anti-fog

Unfortunately, Google fogging is a problem that will not go away anytime soon. The best option to combat it is to have a cloth you can clean the lens with, along with the antifog solution.

5. Hand warmers

These are nice to have for yourself, but another great use for them is keeping your extra batteries warm. Batteries don’t like cold temperatures, but if you keep them contained with a hand warmer, they have a better chance of keeping their charge longer.

6. Extra magazines

Sometimes, I go through more ammo than expected, and when I do, I’m glad when I’ve packed extra bb’s. You’ll have to experiment to find out how much ammo you tend to use, but I’ve found that I typically use about 200-400 rounds in a 20-minute game.

By following this guide on what to wear for airsoft and packing the additional essentials listed, you'll be well-prepared to enjoy your first airsoft game to the fullest. Remember, airsoft is not just about the gear but also about strategy, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Enjoy the game, and welcome to the airsoft community!

Frequently Asked Questions

What stuff do you need for airsoft?

For an airsoft game, you need several essential items to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. The basics include your airsoft gun, BBs, and protective gear such as a full-face mask or goggles to protect your eyes and face. Additional items include a spare battery or gas canisters for your gun, extra magazines, and tactical gear such as a vest or belt to carry your supplies. Hydration is crucial, so bring plenty of water. Finally, tools for minor repairs and maintenance, like a multi-tool or cleaning kit, can be very handy during the game.

What should I wear to my first airsoft game?

For your first airsoft game, wear comfortable, durable clothing that provides some protection from BB impacts. Long sleeves, long pants, and sturdy boots are recommended. Many players wear camouflage or dark-colored clothing to blend into the environment. Protective gear is essential, including a full-face mask or goggles to protect your eyes and face, gloves to protect your hands, and a hat or helmet for head protection. Layering can also be beneficial to adjust to changing weather conditions and protect against minor scrapes and bruises.

What do I need for a night game of airsoft?

For a night game of airsoft, you'll need some additional equipment to ensure safety and visibility. A reliable flashlight or tactical light mounted on your airsoft gun is essential for navigating and identifying targets in the dark. Glow sticks or small LED lights can be useful for marking team members and important locations. Wearing darker clothing and using low-visibility gear can help maintain stealth. It's also a good idea to have spare batteries for your flashlight and any other electronic gear. Ensure you have all the regular airsoft essentials, including protective gear and hydration.

Do you need to bring your own gear to airsoft?

While many airsoft fields offer rental gear, bringing your own gear is highly recommended for a more comfortable and personalized experience. Having your own airsoft gun, protective equipment, and tactical gear ensures that you are familiar with your equipment and can rely on its performance. If you are new to the sport, renting gear can be a good way to try it out before investing in your own. However, over time, owning your own gear can enhance your gameplay and provide better protection and convenience.

Does airsoft leave bruises?

Yes, airsoft can leave bruises, especially when BBs hit exposed skin or are fired at close range. The impact of a BB can cause minor welts, bruises, or redness, which usually heal quickly. Wearing proper protective clothing, such as long sleeves, pants, and gloves, can minimize the risk of bruising. Additionally, using protective gear like vests, helmets, and full-face masks can further reduce the likelihood of injury. Following the rules of engagement, including maintaining minimum engagement distances, also helps prevent bruises and other injuries.

What should I carry in my airsoft backpack?

Your airsoft backpack should contain several essential items to ensure you are prepared for the game. Pack extra BBs, spare batteries or gas canisters, and additional magazines for your airsoft gun. Include basic tools for maintenance and repairs, such as a multi-tool, screwdriver, and cleaning kit. Hydration is crucial, so bring plenty of water and snacks to keep your energy up. A first aid kit is also important for treating minor injuries. Other useful items include a map of the field, a flashlight, spare clothing, and any personal items you may need throughout the day. Having a well-stocked backpack ensures you are ready for any situation that may arise during the game.
