Airsoft Gear for Beginners

Airsoft Gear for Beginners

Hello, newbie airsofters! If you are somewhat new to airsoft and have been playing for a bit, you probably notice the other players running around in gear. Many people ask us as beginners if all that gear is really necessary. The short answer to it is no.

You can enjoy airsoft a lot if your needs are simple! For many of us who play a bit more seriously, though, the added gear can make our experiences on the field that much better. How can gear make it better, you might ask?

In the case of many players, many will want to look cool, and that is certainly a good percentage of us who feel that way. But much of the time, the gear is not only for looks but also to serve a purpose. The gear can add a layer of protection to soften up those hits, but it can also serve as a means to carry additional ammo and other mission-essential items.

have to cost a fortune. To get what you need to play, Fox Airsoft has created a new and simple gear starter kit to equip you and save you a few bucks.

Our kit allows some customization; at the heart of it, web gear is the first thing you can customize. You can select between two types of chest rigs: the more affordable option with fixed pouches and the upgraded version with a modular pouch setup. You can decide if a modular setup's upgrade potential is worth spending more on or just getting the simpler setup ready to go off the bat.

Incorporating an airsoft plate carrier into your gear is a game-changer for protection and tactical advantage. Ideal for beginners looking to elevate their airsoft experience, a plate carrier offers added safety and ample storage for essential equipment. This essential gear allows players to carry extra magazines, tools, and personal items, keeping everything within easy reach during gameplay. For those new to airsoft or looking to upgrade their setup, understanding the benefits and features of a quality plate carrier is a crucial step toward a more strategic and enjoyable game.

The pouches on the lightweight chest rig setup are intended for use with an M4 or a gun with similar-sized magazines. Again, if you want to be able to switch things around in the future or set up for different guns you might have, the other kit, which features the Defcon Gear CCR (commando chest rig), will be more what you need. If you remove the pouches, you are left with MOLLE webbing, which means you can put practically any aftermarket pouches out there, such as the ones we offer from Condor. The chest rig, in general, is a versatile piece of web gear because it does the job and is very comfortable compared to a stuffy plate carrier.

After that, you will select your headgear. We have bump helmets, which come in many colors and are two sizes. The helmet adds a layer of protection to your head and hosts mounting accessories such as action cameras and other cool things.

If you have watched people's airsoft gameplay videos and wondered how they capture it, it is usually a camera mounted to an attachment point built into one of these helmets. Helmets are entirely optional in airsoft, but they're definitely nice to have for CQB games and so on. The helmets can also be customized with accessories, or you could add your own flair with personalized morale patches.

Our gear starter kits are built with the same idea as our rifle starter kits. We want to get you what you need to start playing without any headaches or fuss. Parents of new players can also appreciate not having to hunt down a bunch of much-needed individual items as we take the guesswork out of it for everyone, including new players who haven't no clue where to begin. At Fox Airsoft, we are a company built entirely of airsoft players, so we'll always speak from experience when trying to guide you in your decisions or teach you about our sport.

You can find these and other starter kits on our website. Just click on the starter kit section where you will find these and gun starter kits if that is something you are also looking for. Again, we want to reiterate that you can have fun without all this stuff! But if you want to take your game to the next level, Fox Airsoft offers packages to get you outfitted correctly and save you a few bucks.

For us, your journey as a player is not just about buying random things! It's about finding out what you need, just like everybody else. We all started somewhere, and many of us who have been playing for a while could surely have used packages like this when we were new to the sport. Our carefully curated selection of airsoft accessories goes beyond mere aesthetics; it's about equipping you for better performance and a more immersive experience.

I hope this helps you out and makes your time playing airsoft out in the field much better!

Frequently Asked Questions

What gear do you need for airsoft?

To get started in airsoft, you'll need several essential pieces of gear to ensure safety and enhance your gameplay experience. Firstly, a reliable airsoft gun is crucial, with beginners often opting for an AEG (Automatic Electric Gun) due to its ease of use and versatility. Eye protection is mandatory, with high-quality goggles or a full-face mask being the best options to protect your eyes and face from BB impacts. Additionally, you'll need a good set of protective clothing, such as long-sleeve shirts, pants, and sturdy footwear, to protect your skin from scrapes and BB hits. Other useful gear includes a tactical vest or chest rig for carrying extra magazines, a hat or helmet, gloves, and a holster if you plan to use a sidearm. As you become more experienced, you can expand your gear with items like communication devices, hydration systems, and specialized pouches for carrying additional equipment.

Can you wear shorts to airsoft?

While it is technically possible to wear shorts to an airsoft game, it is not recommended due to safety concerns. Airsoft BBs can travel at high velocities and cause painful welts or bruises on exposed skin. Wearing long pants provides an additional layer of protection against BB impacts and helps prevent scrapes and cuts from rough terrain. Most players opt for durable, long pants made of materials like cotton, polyester, or ripstop fabric to ensure comfort and safety during gameplay. If you choose to wear shorts, be prepared for the possibility of increased discomfort and potential injury.

How much money do I need to start airsoft?

The initial cost to start playing airsoft can vary depending on the quality and type of gear you choose. On average, beginners can expect to spend between $150 to $300 to get started. A decent beginner's airsoft gun typically costs around $100 to $200, with some high-quality options available for slightly more. Eye protection, such as goggles or a full-face mask, usually ranges from $20 to $50. Additional gear, including protective clothing, tactical vests, and extra magazines, can add another $30 to $100 to your total cost. While it's possible to start with a budget setup, investing in reliable and durable equipment can enhance your overall experience and ensure safety on the field. As you become more involved in the sport, you may choose to upgrade your gear or purchase additional items, which can increase your overall investment.
