Automatic Electric Guns (AEGs)

There are a lot of brands and models to choose from on the market today. Electric airsoft guns are the most popular choice when starting airsoft.  This is due to their reliability as well as the simplicity of using them. 

All AEGs will require the use of a rechargeable battery pack to power the gearbox or mechbox. Inside you will find an electric motor which turns a set of gears that pull back and releases a piston which generates the air pressure to shoot the BB out.  The AEG can be modified with different motors, gear ratios, pistons, and cylinder parts to dramatically improve performance in any direction you choose. All high quality AEGs will have an adjustable hop up unit to provide backspin on the BB and generate lift, increasing your guns range dramatically. The inner barrel and hop up unit can be upgraded for even more accuracy and range. 

Most common would be AEGs that are select fire, meaning they can fire fully automatic as well as semi automatic. Some AEGs are semi automatic only and are typically used in a Designated Marksman Rifle (DMR) role. Double check the description of the gun you are purchasing as lot of higher end guns DO NOT include a battery or charger. You can add a battery and charger on the product's page at a discounted rate. Typically you will want about 2-3 batteries for a day of airsoft, but the number of batteries needed for a day of airsoft is dictated by the number of rounds fired. 

Once you decide on a gun, make sure not to forget accessories that can enhance the experience with your airsoft gun.  Flashlights, red dot sights, lasers and scopes are very popular depending on the type of environment you're playing in.

Q: Is it better to get an electric gun or a sniper rifle?

A: This depends on the player type you are.  We recommend that most players start with an automatic electric gun (AEG).  These are lots of fun and are much easier to use on the field than a sniper rifle

Q: Do the guns come with a battery and charger?

A: This depends on the model of gun.  Some of the entry level guns will include it, while the higher end guns will not.  It is important to note that most batteries and chargers that come with guns are not high quality.  This is why we highly recommend picking up a quality battery and charger.  Click Here to see Quality Batteries and Smart Chargers.

Q: How fast do electric guns shoot?

A: This depends on the gun - velocity measurements on an airsoft gun are performed with a .20g BB.  Don't be fooled by velocities measured by lighter weight BBs.  Most of the rifles shoot between 350 - 400 fps out of the box.  These velocities have become standard limitations at many fields.  Make sure to check your local field to ensure that your rifle meets the velocity requirements.
